Do you have two different technologies in use? You have always had to use two different smart cards? You want to have two or more chip technologies in one card, this is possible. Hybrid cards or combi cards contain two or more different chip technologies. For example, HF MiFare® and LF HiTag® chip.
A special position is taken by RFID hybrid cards because of their chip card design. Not like dual interface cards, hybrid cards are fitted with two or more chips. These can consist of a mixture of two different RFID antennas & chips, or a contact chip and a RFID chip. In hybrid cards there are always different chips. For example, the contact chip could be a SLE4442 while the contactless RFID chip may be a MiFare® DesFire. These hybrid smart cards are usually used when different systems are operating with a card, such as an prior time recording with contact reader and a new access control system which works contactless based on MiFare®.

For pupil and student ID cards, RFID cards are used to store monetary values for canteen or photocopier. In addition, they enable time recording during attendance and access to special areas such as libraries or IT rooms.
Identification cards and tickets like annual passes for public transport can be used as ID cards, at the same time combined with photo personalization. Contactless technology enables very short waiting times at the POV (point of validation) and thus contributes to user satisfaction.
The following chip types can be combined with each other in hybrid cards. Most of these chips can also be combined with magnetic stripes and barcode personalization.
