How dual interface card are built?
Dual Interface technology is the most elaborate in production. The card, with the already laminated antenna has to be milled. Then the contacts for the “chip bonding” are exposed. The chip is then connected to the antenna by various technical possibilities and then inserted into the card. In this way, the chip can be driven via the contact interface and the RF antenna.
Alternatively, there is the “inductive coupling” technology – in this case, there is no physical contact between chip and antenna in the card. Instead, the chip module itself is a small antenna which “couples” itself to the large reading antenna. so the large antenna transmits data and energy to the small one.
The dual interface technology is supported only by special chips in the banking sector and in the high security area. Further applications are access cards for security areas or multi applications on one card.
