Since its foundation Variuscard stands for a sustainable business concept with social commitment. With over 50 years of experience and many environmental-friendly developments, the entire Variuscard team is committed to acting efficiently and sustainably at every step of the process.
At Variuscard, our customers’ old cards and production residuals are recycled and returned to the material cycle. This is how useful things such as cable sheathing or plastic pipes are made of it. And the base substrate for our plastic cards is already made of 15% recycelt PVC.
The substrate for our PVC cards consists of 70-100% recycled material. This means that most of our standard PVC plastic cards are made of recycled material. By using recycled substrate, Variuscard sets a clear sign for sustainable merchandise management.
At Variuscard, our customers’ punched grids and old cards are recycled and returned to the material cycle. In this way, useful things such as motorway uprights, cable sheaths or plastic pipes are made from them.
In 2012 biodegradable cards were developed, which can be completely degraded by nature. It is also possible to produce cards from cardboard or wood. Our competent team will be here to advise you!
2016 environmental-friendly NFC cards were developed. The raw materials of these cardboard cards can also be 100% recycled. Although the cards are made of cardboard, they are just as good to print on and process as plastic cards. Only the lifespan is limited, which is perfect for the short use f.e. as gift card. Small and very small print runs as well as sample prints can be produced in digital printing in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way. It can be printed directly from the computer, without additional printing plates. With digital printing machines it is possible to print on demand only what is needed. Overproduction is thus avoided.
At every step of the process, we try to use resources as sparingly as possible and use environmental-friendly water-based printing inks for our presses.
With our 30-strong team we strengthen the business location and are proud of the fact that our production takes place 100% in Austria. Despite the high competitive pressure, it is important to us to leave the company Variuscard in Vienna and not to have it produced abroad at low cost. With a purchase at Variuscard you also support Austria as a business location.
In December 2018, the Variuscard managing director Michael Dorner,initiated together with “Friends of Variuscard”, a fundraising campaign for the St. Anna Children’s Cancer Research. Within a few days, more than € 500,- could be collected and donated.
When we purchase substrates, we always make sure that we buy them from local manufacturers in order to ensure the shortest possible transport routes. This means that wherever possible, we procure the material from Europe.
